Contacts: Sept. 19, 2008 LEADING FLORIDA RESEARCHERS TO ANNOUNCE TWO NEW STUDIES ON GLOBAL WARMING’S IMPACT ON FLORIDA COASTS Sea Level Rise, Hurricane Storm Surges, Property Damage to Worsen; Second Study Will Recommend State Government Policy Framework for Coastal Adaptation Leading Florida-based scientific researchers have scheduled a news conference to release two new studies examining the widespread effects that climate change will have on Florida’s coastlines and making recommendations for policies the state of Florida should pursue to reduce the economic, environmental and safety impacts of greater coastal inundation and more frequent storm surge events. The news conference is scheduled for: WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 24 The studies have been conducted by researchers from Florida State University and Florida Atlantic University, who will present their findings and respond to questions from news media at the news conference.
