CONTACT: Steve MacQueen, Director, Seven Days of Opening Nights, (850) 644-1151; <smacqueen@fsu.edu> Sept. 18, 2008 SEVEN DAYS OF OPENING NIGHTS TO ANNOUNCE NEW SEASON’S LINEUP The wait is almost over: Florida State University has scheduled a special event to announce the lineup of performers for the 11th season of the university’s highly popular Seven Days of Opening Nights arts festival. The announcement will take place: WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 24 As always, Seven Days will boast a world-class lineup of the best in music, theater, literature, dance and film. For the first time, FSU’s Ruby Diamond Auditorium will not be the home venue for most of the shows. That’s because the auditorium is undergoing a $32 million renovation that will make it one of the prime concert spaces in the region when it reopens in the fall of 2010. Until then, Seven Days is “on the road,” with performances planned at 10 separate venues located throughout Tallahassee -- an ambitious undertaking. The festival began 11 years ago as an effort to reflect the quality of FSU’s arts programs. Over the years, Seven Days has expanded well beyond seven days in length, now taking up much of the second half of February. It has become one of Tallahassee’s major cultural events. The season announcement is a festive, invitation-only event that is open to sponsors, new members and renewing members, as well as members of the news media. # # # |
