Chief, (850) 644-2900 FSUPD AND LEON COUNTY MULTI-AGENCY DUI STRIKE FORCE TO CONDUCT CAMPUS DUI CHECKPOINT SEPTEMBER 11th Tallahassee, FL -- The Florida State University Police Department will be conducting a DUI Checkpoint on campus the evening of September 11, 2008. The Checkpoint will be held in the 800 block of West Jefferson Street, in front of Dorman Hall from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The operation will be a part of Leon County Multi-Agency DUI Strike Force operations taking place during the week. “Making our roads safer is the goal,” said FSU Police Chief David Perry. “Our community is dedicated to keeping drunk drivers off the roads to keep our streets safe.” FSUPD recorded 107 DUI arrests in 2007 by its officers due to continued focus on enforcement of impaired driving. Analysis of arrest records indicated all the DUI arrests from 2007 were either on or within close proximity of campus. “These checkpoints are a great way to educate our community”, said FSU Police Major Lisa Sprague. “They serve as a reminder that we are paying attention to drunk driving.” The Florida State University Police Department is an award-winning, accredited, full-service law enforcement agency with primary jurisdiction on property owned or controlled by The Florida State University. ### |
