CONTACT: Browning Brooks, (850) 644-4030; <bbrooks@fsu.edu> Aug. 21, 2008 FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY TO REMAIN OPEN ON FRIDAY TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State University officials announced Thursday afternoon that the university’s main campus will remain open on Friday, Aug. 22. At this time, all events will proceed as scheduled throughout the weekend. FSU faculty and staff members who are unable to come to work on Friday because of the announced closure of Leon County Schools will be able to take a day of annual leave. FSU football fans are encouraged to attend Friday’s 57th Annual Kickoff Luncheon as planned. The luncheon is being held at the Tallahassee-Leon County Civic Center; exhibition doors open at 11:15 a.m. and the program starts at noon. Parking is available at the Civic Center; FSU’s newest parking garage, located on West Pensacola Street just west of the Civic Center, is now open as well. All FSU students, faculty and staff are urged to consult the university’s Web site, FSU.edu, or call (850) 644-INFO regularly for updates related to the approach of Tropical Storm Fay, which could cause torrential rains throughout the Tallahassee area. Although the main FSU campus will be open Friday, Florida State University Schools, better known as Florida High, will be closed.
