Shout Outs!
Jessica Martinez, a graduate student in my department, was awarded a grant by the American Society for Cell Biology, a major scientific society in our field of study, for an original idea she developed - to hold an art competition/show for science grad students across several scientific disciplines on FSU campus. She titled the show "Art in STEM". Grad students submitted images representing their research, which were judged by faculty from across campus. The show is now hanging in Dirac Science Library and will be up until mid-April. They are beautiful!! There was a lot of excitement about the event on its opening night.

Congratulations to University Commination members Jeffery Seay, Jill Elish and Nicole Brooks on receiving the 2014 CASE Circle of Excellence Silver Award in news writing! The team presented five examples of writing reflective of high profile research, faculty and student achievements and university initiatives! Way to go team!
